We have a training school as a client. They have several campuses, including some in different states. This company has a fairly large advertising budget, well over $10,000 per month. They advertise primarily in conventional media; radio, television, and Penny Saver. Through their advertising effort they usually get 20 to 50 leads per week.

The leads come in through the Web site. Formally the leads would come in as email from the form on the site. This is how most Web sites work. The information from the online form gets sent by email. The email would go to a central person and she would send that email to the salesman of the campus. They had an email system handling 20 to 50 emails per week, disbursed to 10 salesmen in 5 locations.

They were mismanaging leads. This was primarily due to a lack of a cohesive system. Each salesman was doing their own thing, with little or no oversight. At any time during their process the lead could be lost. Since it was done by email, any weak link in the chain caused the selling process to break down. They had the leads but were lacking a comprehensive system to turn leads into sales.

They installed the Sales System. Now, when a lead comes (from the site or by phone) it is entered into the Sales System. Once in the system it is retained, assigned, and tracked. Instead of having a collection of emails (a stack of paper essentially), the leads are controlled and worked through the sales cycle. Sales System provides the system to automate the selling process. The leads in the system are worked, sometimes for months, giving them every opportunity to turn it into real business.

Under direction of the Sales Manager, Sales System doubled the close rate. Leads are put in the system, assigned to a Salesmen, and tracked by the Sales Manager. Organizing viable leads helped salesmen achieve a higher close rate. Salesmen love good leads. In this case the leads were already good. It was just a matter of getting them assigned to the right person, then giving them the tool to manage the process. Sales System raised the close rate dramatically.
